So Excited

I'm soooo excited!!! Today I finished getting our LAST two weeks of school stuff ready! I pulled out all the rest of the papers from the books and we are ready to hit 'em hard. Several of the days are just review days, so I'm hoping to combine a few and finish a little earlier!! The kids have worked hard and are looking forward to being done. I have a few fun things planned for this summer. The first thing we're going to do is go to the BEACH!! I've been holding out until school is done!! I also have some fun workbooks for the kids to work on, a couple painting projects, a slip and slide I've been hoarding for a few years (waiting for the kids to get bigger), tapes to listen to, libraries to go to, and any other ideas are welcome!! So, What are your summer plans??

L and E drew me a picture on the chalkboard yesterday. It was a "secret" and I couldn't look until I got all the way in the room. I came in and they said, "Ta daaa" and they started singing together "Frosty the Snowman." It was really cute! The snowman on the left was drawn by E and the one on the right by L. (Please notice the flower on the hat - just like the real Frosty) That was pointed out to me so that I wouldn't miss it. :)

They did a good job.

Notes

It was a very sweet surprise to find a "note" E wrote to us a few weeks ago when I went into our "classroom". She doesn't enjoy cuddling as much as L does, and she seldom does "sweet" things. Occasionally she will snuggle with me and say, "(sigh) I love you mommy." But she definitely has to be in the mood. She's a very independent little girl, and very sensitive. So here's her note on the chalkboard.
I Luv U Luke
I Luv U Aulu (Angela)
I Luv U Li (Leigh)
Isn't that precious???!!! I was very touched. I'm not sure why she uses our given names, but when she writes us notes and colors papers for us she wants to put our given names on them. When she talks to us, she is only allowed to call us Mommy and Daddy. (In case anyone was worried. :) )
Oh yes, I was also very proud of her because this was the first time she tried to sound anything out and write it. She enjoys reading and is doing very well in school. Go EMILY!!! I love you too. :)

Cute Sayings

The past month we went to Krispy Kreme a few times because we were given some Valentine coupons for free doughnuts. I usually take the kids during the day, so we can eat our doughnuts and watch the workings for a little while. It's a fun, free, outing that we greatly enjoy!!
Well, lately when E talks about Krispy Kreme, she has been calling it "Christmas Kreme." (Maybe it feels like Christmas to her?) :) It's really cute to hear, "Mommy, may we go to Christmas Kreme today?"
Kids are so fun!

Differences

I am fascinated by the differences between little boys and little girls! It is at times interesting, fascinating, annoying and at other times, Hilarious!

The kids and I were packing today to go to Grandpa and Grandmommy's house in Dothan (a 2 1/2 hr drive) for the weekend (left P'cola on Thursday after lunch, and leave Dothan on Sunday after lunch). Well, when L and E find out we're going to "Grandmommy's" house, they both have to pack their own "suitcases" (bookbags). I always make sure I go through them and discuss things with them and try to guide their choices.

The Difference:

L (our son)
  • pajamas
  • 1 pair underwear
  • slippers
  • book
  • coonskin hat
  • favorite car
  • favorite stuffed animal
  • toothbrush/toothpaste
  • new toy phone

E (our daughter)

  • pajamas
  • slippers
  • 2 dresses
  • 3 skirts with shirts (of which only one matched :) )
  • 3 pairs panties
  • 3 pairs socks
  • 3 pairs shoes
  • hairbrush and comb
  • misc small toys
  • 3 baby dolls
  • two extra little bags of baby doll accessories (blankets mostly and 3 bottles)
  • baby doll bed
  • 2 barrettes
  • toothbrush in toothbrush holder
  • and she wanted another bag to put one of her babies in

It just makes me laugh. And yet it really shows their personalities. L would wear the same clothes all weekend and it not phase him in the least, whereas E enjoys changing her clothes a couple times a day (although as she's gotten older, she's gotten much better with that). (although there are still a few days when she goes down for a nap in one outfit and when she gets up from her "nap" she is in a completely different outfit)

L also keeps one pair of clothes on the floor of his bedroom and that's what he wears each day until I specifically tell him to put it in the hamper ( which is usually every day, sometimes he's allowed to wear it more than one day in a row if we didn't do anything that day). E has all of her outfits that she has worn recently and pajamas (which are different every day) strewn about her room. Most days look like a tornado has gone through her clothes and left them laying about (we're working on it) :)

Anyways, I just think it's fascinating and quite Hilarious! They're so funny about it, too. We did discuss their choices, and we added several clothing options to Luke's bag and weeded out a few from Emily's bag, although she did still have an extra bag for her baby's stuff (and a spare pair of shoes) and she was allowed to bring her baby's bed (because we had room, and it's just sooo cute to see her play with it).

I love my kiddos!!!!!

Yay for T-BALL!!!!!!!!

T-ball

I love t-ball! Our church has an in-house t-ball league that they've done for two year, now, and it's so much fun for the kids to be able to get together with their friends and play. We practice once a week and all our games are on Saturdays. This year L is in the 6-8 year old age group and E is in the 3-5 year old age group. In the 3-5 year olds there were only enough kids signed up to make three teams, so about every third Saturday she gets to play two games in a row! They love it and I am so glad that we are able to have this opportunity for them to learn how to play with a team and to learn to have good sportsmanship!

Their numbers correspond with their ages.

Lunch time

The kids are eating lunch and L just told me, "J has freckles on his arm." I said, "He has what on his arm?" (I thought he said sprinkles, but they weren't eating anythings with sprinkles on them) L: "He has freckles on his arm, like he's freezing. "

Kids

I'm sitting at the computer listening to my kids play. I am so thankful that they play so well together. They are playing cars. L is using different voices for the cars and then E throws a little in. Ooops, Now I hear, JOSiiiiiiiAH. (I say, L he just want to play too). (sigh) "He messed up my track." Continued playing....... They're so funny to listen to. I want to bottle the moments up and treasure it, because I know in just a few short years, I'll be missing it.

Don't understand

Ok, so today I went to a consignment sale that is held in town twice a year. It's a huge sale, with tons of children's clothes and other items. You're assigned a consignor number and set your price, pay a consignor fee, print your tickets, put it on your stuff, etc. So, I go looking for good deals, which I would guess most people do, right? As I was looking through the little girl clothes I came across a cute peach shirt with plaid shorts set. The consignor price and description was : $24, (name brand) shirt and short set, new with tags. So, I looked at the tags (from the store), the price on the tags brand new without any discount was $16.99. So, my question is, "How can you take that to a consignment sale and up the price by $7?" I just don't understand.

Handwriting

L - my six year old son was working on his handwriting in school the other day, and he wrote a very nice cursive "a". He often calls me over to check his work, and this time he said, " Isn't that nice? Do you think a 10th year old wrote that?"

Getting Started

Well, I'm finally starting a blog. It has been something I've wanted to do for quite a while, just haven't had the opportunity, or no-how. There have often been times that I've thought, "I should put that as my status on facebook," or times where I had a funny story to "share", or just strange ponderings or rants and raves that I had. So, here I am. We'll see how long it lasts and if I can keep it up. :)
